Plan changes

You can compare plans and pricing on our Pricing page. The available plans are:

  • Starter plan
    • Designed for users who want to start writing academic papers quickly and easily.
  • Pro plan
    • Ideal for users who require fast LaTeX compilation speeds to enhance productivity. This plan also includes advanced features to support professional writing workflows.
  • Enterprise plan
    • Built for organizations that want to adopt Murfy as a standard tool. This plan is suitable for teams that need member management, activity analytics via dashboards, and centralized administration.
    • The Enterprise plan is available upon request. Please contact us through the Enterprise Inquiry form to subscribe.

Plans screen

In the Murfy dashboard, click your profile picture in the top right corner and select Subscription. The All Plans screen opens. You can also open it from Pricing under Subscription in the settings sidebar. On the Starter plan, you can also click Upgrade to Pro at the top of the dashboard.

Plan cards

Each card shows the price per month, Monthly credits, and the features of the plan. The Enterprise card shows Contact for pricing instead of a price. Hover over the info icon next to a compile feature to see its details.

Yearly billing

A card with a yearly option, such as Pro, has a Billed yearly toggle. The toggle is on when the screen opens. While it's on, the Pro card shows a Save up to 25% badge next to the plan name, and the price is the yearly price divided by 12. Turn it off to see the monthly price.

What are credits?

Below the cards, What are credits? explains: "Murfy's AI features run on credits. Credit usage varies by task type and input/output length, and you'll see the credits used as soon as each task finishes." For how credits work in Murfy AI, see Murfy AI.

The card for your current plan shows You are on Starter, You are on Pro, or You are on Enterprise, and its button can't be clicked. On the Enterprise plan, the Starter and Pro cards have no button.

What depends on your plan

  • Compile time limit: When a compile fails because of the time limit, the Starter plan shows "Compilation time is limited on the Starter plan. Upgrade to the Pro plan to compile for up to 5 minutes." with an Upgrade to Pro button that opens the plans screen. On the Pro plan, the message has no button. See Compile and PDF.
  • History: If your plan doesn't include the full version history, a card at the oldest (left) end of the Version history timeline says "If you upgrade to the Pro plan, you'll get full access to your entire version history." Click upgrade to the Pro plan on the card to open the plans screen. This card can't be selected for comparison. See History.
  • AI credits: A notice appears above the Murfy AI input box as you use your monthly credits. Upgrade plan opens the plans screen. See Murfy AI.

How to Change Your Plan

Follow these steps to upgrade or downgrade your current plan:

  1. In the Murfy dashboard, click your profile picture in the top right corner.
  2. Select Subscription.
  3. In the subscription menu, click Manage subscription.
  4. Under Plan management, click the Change subscription button next to “Upcoming plan”.
  5. Select your desired plan and confirm.
  6. Read the plan change notice carefully, then click Confirm.
  7. A confirmation message will appear once your plan change is complete.
  8. If you experience any inconvenience or feel the plan is missing something, we welcome your feedback to help us improve.
  9. You can view your updated upcoming plan, billing cycle, and next payment scheduled in the subscription management section.

Switching from Pro to Enterprise plan

  • People on the Pro plan can join an institution too. When you join, your Pro subscription is cancelled right away and refunded.
  • Before you join, a confirmation window lists three things, one line each: the cancellation, the refund, and that the institution plan is applied.
  • Once you have joined, the Murfy operations team is notified that a refund is due, and the team processes the refund.
  • When you join, your credits start over based on the institution.
