Check references

Check that each reference in your .bib file exists and that its details are correct.

Murfy AI checks each reference against over 300 million scholarly records — whether the work exists, and whether the author, year, title, venue and DOI match.

How to use it

  1. Open a .bib file in your project.
  2. Click Check references at the top of the editor. It checks every citation in the project against your bibliography.
  3. The results appear in a new conversation in the Murfy AI panel.

Nothing changes until you accept a fix. If there's something to correct, review the change and Accept or Reject it.

The Check references button only appears if you can edit files in the project. This feature uses AI credits.
